Ashtanga Short Form
Ashtanga Primary Series • Short Sequence with Roberta
Description
This class follows a fixed sequence based on the traditional Ashtanga Primary Series, offering a structured, flowing practice focused on mindful breathing and alignment. Designed for practitioners with some prior asana experience, it emphasizes linking breath to movement while building strength, flexibility, and concentration. We begin with a brief centering and dynamic warm-ups to generate heat and prepare the body. The standing sequence cultivates stability and balance, while the seated portion targets deeper flexibility, spinal mobility, and core engagement. Gentle backbends and a calming closing sequence help integrate the practice and restore balance. This is a set sequence, allowing practitioners to develop consistency and refinement over time. Modifications will be offered to support your practice while maintaining the integrity of the series. The class concludes with deep relaxation, leaving you grounded and energized. *** NOTE: > This class is best suited for practitioners with some prior yoga asana experience. > Please do not eat at least 2 hours prior to the class and hydrate before as we aim not to drink water during the class. > Classes may include hands-on assists, the use of natural essential oils, balms or creams (applied optionally by the teacher), live or recorded music, instruments (such as harmonium, shruti box, bells), incense, and candles. If you have any allergies, sensitivities, or personal boundaries, please inform the teacher before class. Your comfort and consent are always honoured.
